Twenty AGVs moving across roughly 1,500 square meters of factory floor. KAITECH built a fleet management system that tracks every vehicle’s position, status and task from one screen.
■ The Challenge
This customer is a Japanese company operating multiple manufacturing sites, and needed a fleet management system (FMS) to centrally manage around 20 AGVs (automated guided vehicles) moving across roughly 1,500 square meters of floor space. Given the site’s environment, communication between the robots and the server also had to run over LoRa (duplex).
■ Our Approach
KAITECH proposed and built an FMS solution capable of monitoring and controlling around 20 AGVs at once. Each AGV’s position, route and operating state (moving, idle, error, and so on) is shown in real time on a map of the factory floor, and task assignment along with route settings (points, intersections, charging stations, etc.) can all be configured from the admin dashboard. Robots and the server communicate over duplex LoRa, working within the constraints of the site’s communication environment.
■ Results & Highlights
- Centralized monitoring of 20 AGVs moving across roughly 1,500 square meters, all from one screen
- Made position, status and task visible in real time, giving instant insight into operations
- Worked within the site’s specific communication constraints using duplex LoRa
- Let the team flexibly adjust routes and charging-station settings from the admin dashboard
■ Why KAITECH Was The Right Fit
Managing a fleet of AGVs sharing the same physical space demands positional accuracy, reliable communication and flexible route design all at once. KAITECH combined its experience with LoRa communication and robotics to build an FMS grounded in this site’s real constraints.
